Female driving instructor in Luton
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) state that 45 hours of professional tuition should be taken and a further 22 hours of private practice to reach Practical Driving Test standard. However, some students may take less and some may take longer.
It is best to be assessed first before applying for the Practical Driving Test to ensure your driving has reached the standard that is required by the DSA in order to pass the Test.
Revision for The Theory Test can start at any stage of the learning process. However it is best to bear in mind that a practical test cannot be booked until the Theory Test has been passed.
Always buy books issued by The DSA, they are the people who conduct your tests. For the Theory Test I recommend The Complete Learner Driver Pack- Electronic 20.95 which includes The Theory Test CD-ROM, Hazard Perception DVD and The Practical Driving Test DVD.
You are able to take The Practical Driving Test in your car. To do this your car must be in a roadworthy condition, have 'L' plates to the front and back of the car and a further interior mirror fitted for the examiner's use. However, most students prefer to take their Driving Instructor's car as this is the car they will be used to. Please be aware certain cars are not permitted to be used on a practical test. If you are planning to take your own car to the practical test please check with the DSA that your car is suitable.
